CFL Players of the Week: Week One
The domination of the Saskatchewan Roughrider defence in week number one propelled Ricky Foley into the lead for most Gibson mentions for 2014, as the Riders Defensive End collected two awards on the week, one for his defensive work and the other as recognition of his play as top Canadian on the week.
Drew Willy's debut as the starting quarterback in Winnipeg provided for much misery for the Toronto Argonauts and caught the eye of the Gibson's selection panel, tapping Willy as the Offensive player of the week.
The only bright spot for the Argos of week one was on Special teams, as Chad Owens never say quit attitude made for a spectacular return late in the game, a highlight reel moment and good enough for the Special needs nod for week number one.
The four top selections for Week One can be found below:
Offensive Player of the Week
Drew Willy, QB, Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Defensive Player of the Week
Ricky Foley, DE, Saskatchewan Roughriders
Special Teams Player of the Week
Chad Owens, KR, Toronto Argonauts
