Offensive Player of the Week

Darian Durant  Saskatchewan Roughriders QB

Darian Durant answered more than a few of his critics in his 2012 debut as the Riders QB, with an impressive display Durant picked up the Outstanding Offensive player for week one. Durant who had a 2011 to forget, found his pace quickly in the season opener, a good omen for the Rider nation as the season moves forward.

Defensive Player of the Week

JC Sherritt Edmonton Eskimos LB

The Eskies linebacker had a game to remember, one of the key components of the Eskimo defence he proved to be a thorn in the side of the Argonauts Ricky Ray, timely hits and fumble recoveries by Sherrit went far towards the defensive honours of the week.

Special Teams

Grant Shaw  Edmonton Eskimos  K

Kicker Grant Shaw of the Eskimos made his debut as the Special Teams player of the week in fine style, thanks to the consistency of his kicking foot and the twelve points it provided for Edmonton going 4 for 4 in FG attempts. Shaw's contribution was particularly useful to coach Kavis Reed, haunting his former team the Argos  by providing points when Eskimo drives stalled.

Top Canadian

Jon Cornish  Calgary Stampeders  RB

The Stamps Canadian running back celebrated Canada Day with a pretty impressive appearance picking up the award for Top Canadian, thanks to his performance in Calgary's victory over the Montreal Alouettes. Cornish ran roughshod over the Alouettes defence,  the main thrust of the Stampeders  offensive domination of Montreal on Sunday.
