Gibson's Players of the Week (Week Ten) September 5, 2012

This is a recording, Week Ten once again brought Chris Williams to the top of the pack, the Tiger Cats kick returner is quickly becoming the sensation of the season and is clearly on a path to re-writing a few of the CFL's records in this 2012 campaign.

His work over over Labour Day against Toronto once again earns him a place on the Gibson's honour rolls.

And at the risk of repeating ourselves, It was also another good week for the Stampeders Jon Cornish, who ran his way back onto the Gibson's listings with his performance of last week.

Chad Owens and Ahmad Caroll were others who gave the Gibson's panel cause to celebrate, rounding out the week's viewings from Labour Day with the awards for week ten.

Offensive Player of the Week and Top Canadian

Chad OwensToronto Argonauts, SB

With a showcase event on the Labour Day schedule, Chad Owens rose to the occasion a big play guy in a big play game, Owens assembled 402 combined yards in the Argos Labour Day contest with the Cats, a history making performance that added to the always entertaining Labour Day memories. Owens work on Monday enthralled more than CFL fans, the Gibson's panel gave it their nod with the Offensive Player of the Week award.

Defensive Player of the Month

Ahmad Carroll,   Toronto Argonauts, DB

While at times Labour Day threatened to be a very long day for Ahmand Carroll, a timely interception of  Henry Burris pass propelled Carroll down field to score a momentum shifting TD, a defensive play that more than atoned for some of his struggles of early on in the Labour Day Classic.  The importance of that play, capped by an Argos victory was all the Gibson's panel needed to give Carroll the Gibson's award on defense for the week.

Special Teams

Chris Williams, Hamilton Tiger Cats, KR

Another week another award for Chris Williams, the Cats kick returner  is quickly becoming the most reliable highlight reel machine that the CFL has ever seen. Once again Williams provided some spark and magic on Labour Day, his return work in the Labour Day Classic provided to a wider audience this weekend as the NBC Sports Network was showcasing the game this weekend past. Already a topic of conversation above the 49th, we imagine Williams has now gained a bit of notice below it.

Top Canadian

Jon CornishCalgary Stampeders, RB

Clearly leading by example, Cornish who a few weeks back challenged his Stampeder team mates to get into the game, the Stamps running back once again had a strong performance in the Labour Day tilt with the Eskimos.
