Gibson's Player of the Week (Week Two) July 10 2012

The British Columbia Lions led the pack this week, with two placements in the Gibson's Players of the Week nominations, spurred on by their thrilling 39-36 victory over Hamilton on Friday night.
Running backs and kick returners provided the spark in Week Number Two and as we find in the Gibson's Players of the Week awards, their efforts did not go unrewarded.

Offensive Player of the Week

Brandon Whitaker Montreal Alouettes RB

Montreal's Brandon Whittaker galloped his way across the TV screens on Friday night, a powerful stride that put points on the board for the Alouettes and votes on his ballot for award time this week.

Defensive Player of the Week

Adam Bighill British Columbia Lions LB

The Lions defense once again proved to be troublesome for opposing offences, this time providing misery for both Henry Burris and Quinton Porter of the Tiger Cats. Key among the Lions line backing corps was Adam Bighill who found much success roaming the Tiger Cat backfield.

Special Teams

Larry Taylor Calgary Stampeders WR/KR

Taylor lit up the highlight reels with some spectacular kick returns in Friday's game against the Argonauts, providing for an entertaining night of Canadian Football as he gave CFL special teams coaches cause to redesign their coverage plans, lest they suffer the fate that Toronto did.

Top Canadian

Andrew Harris British Columbia RB

Much is made of the arm of Travis Lulay and the receptions of Geroy Simon et al, but as Friday night offered up, the Lions might have a pretty good running game to go to as well.  Andrew Harris rambled along the BC Place turf with some stellar runs through the night, earning him the title of Top Canadian for Week 2
