CFL Gameday: Winnipeg at Hamilton (October 7)

The opening night of the Thanksgiving Weekend features a CFL East showdown, which will see the current division leading Blue Bombers (tied all be it with Montreal) trying to stave off another attack on their perch, this time by the hometown Tiger Cats.

Winnipeg has been close in both of their defeats in their two game slump, but close doesn't hold home field advantage for the playoffs and both Montreal and Hamilton have made gains during the Bombers skid.

Head coach Paul LaPolice is to be commended for his ability to hold his injury depleted line up together through the last few weeks, with a few breaks (and perhaps more consistent officiating) both results could have gone the Bombers way making Friday night's game of less significance than it is now.

With a win the Cats can officially make the CFL East's top position a three way race, though for the most part it already is one, Montreal having the edge this weekend with their match up with the woeful Argonauts.

While Winnipeg's losses of September can be attributed to an the injury list, the Cats struggles at consistency have basically been self inflicted. Hamilton has seemingly provided for a routine  of one strong game, followed by one or two stinkers, with the Cats having put together back to back wins and impressive wins at that, the Bombers must be hoping that the pendulum swings back to stink for Friday night.
