Gibson's Players of the Week (Week Fifteen) October 10, 2012

Joey Elliot's Giant Killer performance against the Montreal Alouettes on Monday, provided him a platform to gain access to the Gibson's Players of the Week podium, based on his stellar work in Montreal the Gibson's Panel  rewarded his hard work wit the nod as Offensive Player of the Week.

Elliot's selection, marks his second appearance for a Gibson's this year, while Andrew Harris made a return trip once again to the Gibson's selection rolls. 

The week however also heralded the arrival of a pair  of newcomers to the Gibson's podium for week fifteen, as Chris Thompson and Sandro DeAngelis made their debuts on the Gibson's roster this year.

Offensive Player of the Week and Top Canadian

Joey ElliottWinnipeg Blue Bombers QB

Pressed into action once again with another injury to starter Buck Pierce, Joey Elliott found his game at a timely moment on the weekend, leading the Bombers to a shocking 27-22 victory over the east leading Montreal Alouettes.  Elliott's stellar game provided for 17 of 25 passes for a total of 335 yards and a career best three TD's, making a mash out of the Alouettes defensive corps in the process. His work on Thanksgiving Monday proved more than enough material for the Gibson's panel for week fifteen.


Defensive Player of the Month

Chris Thompson, Edmonton Eskimos,  DB

Chris Thompson's work on Friday night proved to be the undoing of Henry Burris and the Hamilton Tiger Cats, Thompson snared two interceptions and stymied the TiCat attack with three sacks as he led the Edmonton Defence in their shut down of the enigmatic Tiger Cats. After a horrible month or so for the Eskimos, the Eskies Defensive unit more than rose to the occasion, helping to secure a much needed win, improving the Eskimos playoff possibilities in the process.

Special Teams

Sandro DeAngelis , Saskatchewan Roughriders, K

One of the keys to the Roughriders victory over the Argos on Monday afternoon, was Sandro DeAngelis' reliability on field goal attempts. The Riders kicking specialist went five for six on Monday, which when combined with his three extra points, accounted for eighteen of the Riders 36 offensive points on the day. A success rate that secured the Special Teams player of the Week award for him

Top Canadian

Andrew Harris, British Columbia Lions, RB

Marking his third appearance at the Gibson's podium this year, Harris picking up a touchdown in the Saturday showdown with Tamps and propelled by his 73 rushing yards on fifteen carries, found himself the focus of the Gibson panel's attention. Helping his cause along the way were another 52 yards on four receptions, an offensive performance that added up to a Gibson's award for week fifteen.
