Gibson's Players of the Week (Week Fourteen) October 2, 2012

Henry Burris's big day caught more than the eye of the TiCat faithful, on the strength of his Friday night evisceration of the Alouettes defence, the TiCat quarterback gave the Gibson's panel no choice but to give him the nod as Offensive Player of the Week.

Burris joins a couple of repeats from last week in BC's Adam Bighill and Trent Guy of Montreal, as well as multiple award winner Jon Cornish on the Gibson's podium for week fourteen.

Offensive Player of the Week and Top Canadian

Henry Burris, Calgary Stampeders QB

The Friday night highlights package featured a healthy heaping of Henry, as the TiCat QB found much success against an Alouette Defence that couldn't find ways to stem the TiCat offensive tsunami. Burris with five TD passes and an 88 percent completion rate for 326 yards was the clear star of the night on the way to TiCats 41-28 win over the Als, a performance that puts him onto the Gibson's listings for week fourteen, his third apperance this year on the honour rolls.

Defensive Player of the Month

Adam Bighill,  British Columbia Lions, LB

For the second week in a row, the Lions Bighill had a big performance, a common theme this year for the Leos and such was his performance, even in a losing cause for the Lions that Bighill received the nod as Defensive player of the month. His latest achievement marks the fourth time this season that the Gibson's panel has selected him for an honour.

Special Teams

Trent Guy Montreal Alouettes, KR

Even if his team mates didn't have their best game of the season, the Alouettes Trent Guy had a pretty impressive game, the lone bright spot for the Als in a night they might best forget. With 125 yards on six kick returns and 65 yards returned on punts, the Gibson's panel rewarded Guy for the second week in a row for his work.

Top Canadian

Jon Cornish, Calgary Stampeders, RB

Chastened over his public demonstration to the crowd in Regina last week, Jon Cornish did all his talking and performing on the field for Calgary on Friday night. Once again the Stampeder makes his mark on the Gibson's panel, collecting yet another reward on the year (his sixth) all in recognition of a night when he surpassed the 1,000 yard rushing mark for the first time in his career.
